Nashville and.... Bluegrass?!?!?!?
Hello Funseekers!!!!
It's been awhile and I apologize but it's been a busy (and exciting!) semester so far. The big monkey on my back is my basic keyboard skills class which is a ton of work. Adding a 2nd instrument to the whole thing opens up a completely new can of worms. :(
The biggest (and coolest) news is that I'm going on the Berklee Nashville trip during Spring Break! It's going to be awesome, we get to tour Warner records and go to clinics put on my professional songwriters and engineers as well as check out all the sights! (maybe I'll even get to see a Predators game and see if Forsberg still has it!) The Nashville trip is really popular because it's sponsored by the school so it's actually not very much money for a whole week of fun (like $300 including food, hotel and transportation, wow!) To make sure that we had spots on the trip (they only take 140 people and there's always a waiting list, this is the 20th year that Berklee has done this) we woke up at 6 AM and waited outside in sub-zero temperatures in a lineup filled with other psychotics (maybe music students, I'm not sure) The "we" is myself, Matt, Izumi and Erica. Hence the pictures. This is after we were done waiting outside and could actually wait inside. There was a lot of waiting that day but all four of us are going to Nashville woo!!!
Music-wise, Matt and I are on kind of an Alt-Country kick. I've been listening a lot to two albums, Gold by Ryan Adams and Rainy Day Music by the Jayhawks and it's been slowly seeping into my subconscious (I've been trying to rip off the stuff I like) We have a band now, (webpage coming soon!!!) and there's going to be new tunes for you people to listen to really really soon!(don't hold your breath!) Band pics also to come!
Also since trouble comes in three, there's a new girl here this semester named Liza. She lives on the floor above me and Matt and she's in one of my songwriting classes. Here's some pictures of her giving me a serenade/bluegrass lesson. We had a bluegrass jam the other night which was fun. We're also writing a song together, it's a secret. :)
More to come. Count on it!!

George - I'm not gonna lie, this is the first time I've checked out your blog since the first post. I'm a bad friend... Anyway, I just wanted to say I love you, I love school and I'm glad you love school! Nashville is going to rock - I'm so jealous!! However, some of the boys in my class are talking quite seriously about going away over Christmas for Habitat for Humanity, so that would be cool.. Anyway, enough - Take care, love you lots and miss you like mad!! Melissa
Dear George,
Holy shit. You are partaking in awesome adventures with, apparently, very sexy people.
Please send music. And more photos. And a picture of you stabbing someone with a guitar.
You are seriously living the dream.
Not that you need any tips but ... The Rolling Stones > The Beatles
Just thought I'd throw that in there.
Have a great time. Get into trouble.
-Ken
